Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide when you create or manage a Groundwork account, such as your name, email address, company name, business type, service-area preferences, notification preferences, saved searches, watchlists, support messages, and other information you choose to provide.

When you subscribe, payment information is processed by Stripe. Groundwork receives billing and subscription identifiers and status information, but we do not store your full payment-card number.

2. Usage and technical information

We may collect information about how the Service is accessed and used, including browser and device information, security events, session information, feature usage, and diagnostic data needed to operate, secure, and improve Groundwork. Cloudflare Turnstile may process technical information to help prevent automated abuse.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand website traffic and engagement. Groundwork configures analytics page reporting to omit URL query strings and fragments, and we do not intentionally send account email addresses, permit search terms, or other direct identifiers to Google Analytics.

3. Public permit information

Groundwork collects and organizes records made available by public agencies and public systems. Those records may include project addresses, property information, contractor or applicant names, business contact information, permit descriptions, valuations, and similar details published by the source agency. Groundwork uses this information to provide construction-intelligence features.

4. How we use information

We use information to provide and secure the Service, personalize account preferences, process subscriptions, deliver requested alerts and communications, respond to support or sales inquiries, improve Groundwork, analyze product performance, prevent abuse, comply with law, and protect our users and business.

5. Email communications

Transactional messages, account notices, billing notices, and alert emails may be necessary to provide requested features. Marketing or product-update emails are optional and are controlled separately from permit-alert preferences. You may change those preferences in Groundwork or use an unsubscribe option where provided.

6. Service providers

We use service providers that process information on our behalf, including Supabase for authentication and database services, Stripe for payments and billing, Vercel for hosting, Resend for email delivery, Cloudflare for security services, and Google Analytics for website traffic and engagement measurement. We may also use public-agency systems and other infrastructure providers necessary to operate Groundwork.

7. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers. We may share information with service providers acting on our behalf, when you direct us to do so, to complete a business transaction involving Groundwork, or when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our agreements, or protect rights, safety, or security.

8. Data retention

We retain account and service information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Groundwork, maintain business and legal records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet applicable obligations. Retention periods may vary by data type.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security, and you should protect your password and account access.

10. Your choices

You can update profile, company, service-area, notification, and billing settings within Groundwork. You may request help with account information or account deletion by contacting us. Certain records may be retained where necessary for legal, security, billing, or audit purposes.

11. Children

Groundwork is a business service and is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Groundwork evolves. We will post the updated version with a revised effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate.
